State GOP rejects Panama canal treaty at convention
Republican State Convention delegates unanimously adopted a resolution opposing Senate ratification of the Panama Canal treaty and any transfer of U S property without House ratification. The substitute titled The American Canal in Panama was offered by State Sen William Campbell and Rep Robert Dornan and approved for press use. The adopted resolution argues the treaties cede U S military rights, dilute the ability to build a sea level canal, and transfer wartime military priority decisions.
