Compton Teens Injured After Chain Incident on Pavement

A 13 year old girl dashed into a chain causing injuries to a Compton girl during frolicking on the pavement. Nurses at Memorial Hospital reported the incident as a head injury with the victim taken for treatment. Largest overhaul completed at Long Beach Naval Yard

The Long Beach Naval Shipyard finished its largest overhaul, an $8 million project on the attack carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. Capt. Gerald F. Colleran's ship was the first at the yard to undergo the overhaul, with extensive air conditioning installation to support Viet Nam operations. Body found off San Clemente surf spot for local surfer

The body of Andre Jahan, 58, president of the San Onofre Surfing Club, was recovered about a mile off the San Clemente pier after a three day air and sea search. He was washed from his board on Sept. 24 while surfing with his son Steve. Funeral services are pending at Scheffer Mortuary. He is survived by his widow Laura, a daughter Andrea, 21.
