Shelter inmates near-death as air runs out in shelter

William Kennedy and Robert Moore, both trapped in an above-ground shelter in Hampton Reach New Hampshire, nearly suffocated when air failed. Kennedy, 34, and Moore, 22, planned a five day stay and called Kennedy's wife for help. They escaped through a reinforced steel door after Mrs. Kennedy urged release. They were treated with oxygen at a hospital and released. Kennedy had built the shelter in two weeks at about $2000 and the pair were compiling reports on psychological and sanitary conditions inside.
