Polly Bergen Clear to Sell Turtle Oil in California

Gov. Ronald Reagan signed SB 54 allowing Polly Bergen to dispose of her remaining turtle oil until April. The law, prompted after a cosmetics shipment faced a March ban, stems from concerns over the sea turtle. Dennis Carpenter originally introduced the bill. Bob Moretti revised and passed it. In a separate note, Soviet diplomats arrived in Spain to be stationed in Madrid.

Reagan policy claims spark League clash in voter debate

Sacramento reports quote League of Women Voters President Evelyn Kaplan accusing Gov Reagan of unfounded charges to dodge questions on the tax limitation initiative. Kaplan defends the league stance opposing Prop 1, noting she attended a February briefing and that the anti measure position was set two months earlier. Meanwhile the state Fish and Game department lists sparrow and several chub fish for endangered status, criticizing Prop 1 supporters who fail to answer arguments as they push for spending limits tied to personal income.
