Mrs Mike Cullens joined 15 other women honored Tuesday by Broadway and Germaine Monteil as an International California Woman. Notables included actress Susan Oliver and Mrs Myerlie Evers wife of slain Civil Rights leader Medgar Evers. The event was at the Sheraton Wilshire Hotel. Mrs Cullens discussed balancing family life with public duty and moving between Sacramento and Long Beach. She described housing challenges with four children and pets, and her husband’s political career. She also touched on fashion views, drug policy, and community pride in Long Beach where she works as an intern for her master’s requirements.
Consumer affairs advocate Treesa Drury will speak at the Long Beach Council of Parents and Teachers December meeting. The 7:30 p.m. session at Hughes Junior High Auditorium will cover consumer safety in gift purchases and contract buying, with tips on avoiding unfair practices and price comparisons.
