Navy ends jet seaplane program after partial orders
In Washington the Navy cut its 24 Seamasters order from Martin Co. of Baltimore, delivering six so far with eight more due, then ending the program short of the total. The 600 mile range planes would serve as mine layers and aerial tankers, with a $290 million total cost. Martin will lay off about 6,000 workers. Also reported is a fatal farm dog attack on a 3 year old in Harborcreek, Erie County, and unrelated police car theft in La Jolla and a probation protest in Oroville.
