Jerry Lewis to open mini theaters for moviegoers
Hollywood report cites Jerry Lewis partnering with Network Cinema Corp to franchise automated mini theaters in malls and towns. The concept aims to cut staffing to one or two workers, handle ticketing and projection automatically, and place theaters near parking and population centers to boost attendance and streamline second runs. Lewis notes growth since 1948 and 1968 revenue rebound, with franchising costs around 12 500 to 16 000 dollars plus about 45 500 dollars financing, yielding ownership after five years if capacity is 27 percent.
