Purdy Named Appointive Sheriff for Dade County Florida
News E. Wilson Bud Purdy will become Dade County Florida sheriff on December 19 as an appointed official after the November 8 vote approved the change from elected to appointive. Purdy, a former Pennsylvania state police commissioner and St. Petersburg police chief, was nominated by County Manager Porter Homer and approved by the Metro Commission in Miami.
