Johnson visits Long Beach amid loud crowd during 1960 campaign
In Lincoln Park Long Beach Johnson drew unrestrained cheers from a 6000 strong audience during a vice presidential campaign stop. A week later Massachusetts senator Kennedy faced a mob at the Douglas gate as a throng tugged at his clothing after his speech. Kennedy later rode a helicopter that was forced down by heavy fog en route to Los Angeles, then took a cab to continue.
