Yanks Fight in Central Highlands Clash Northeast of Saigon
U S Army units from the 25th Division reported sharp clashes near the Cambodian border. In one engagement a company from the 3rd Brigade of the 25th fought through jungle terrain west of Pleiku and another unit battled an estimated North Vietnamese platoon near Pleiku City. Brown Seeks Reagan to Use His Muscle on Clemency

Baker's Attorney Seeks Split Trials in Federal Case
In Washington, attorney Edward Bennatt argued for three separate trials for Baker facing charges of tax evasion, larceny, conspiracy, and other offenses. He contended the 1961 62 tax counts should go to one trial, with grand larceny and related theft in a second, and conspiracy plus false statements for tax aid in a third. Judge Oliver P. Fossch took the motion under advisement as prosecutors maintain a single common scheme.
