Assembly kills public employees union measure
SACRAMENTO (UPI) A bill allowing state and local employees to form unions and bargain collectively with their employers was defeated by the Assembly on a 26 31 vote. Burton kept the bill technically alive by asking to reconsider. He said it would give public employees the right to join together to bargain on issues affecting them and their families. Cullen opposed the bill, saying it conflicts with existing law and that the time hasn’t come.
