Navy Hearings Reveal Pot Prevalence in Vietnam and LSD Rise
Navy witnesses testifying before a House Armed Services subcommittee say marijuana is as available in Vietnam as chewing gum is in the United States, and warn of an alarming increase in LSD use. Master Chief Marvin Reed cites Vietnam’s marijuana flow via a fence for a dollar, while Special Investigator Don Methlie notes LSD danger, including cases of sailors attempting to contaminate ships. A drug-abuse school for the fleet is planned to train about 200 men as specialists.
