UFW Gains Ground as Teamsters Lose Ground in California Elections
In California farm labor races since the new law, the United Farm Workers earned 154 victories, mostly on ranches lacking prior contracts, while the Teamsters won 86 statewide elections. Leaders on both sides claim progress, with UFW advantage growing through broader organizing, though many growers oppose Chavez and the unions.
