Washington report states a firm and its subsidiary were issued a consent order by the Federal Trade Commission. The action declares that salesmen pressured Parents' Magazine teachers or representatives to allow surveys as a pretext to enter homes, offering encyclopedia sets at regular price rather than reduced rates. The complaint says the questionnaires were used only to gain access, not to support a price cut.
Dorothy Converse and Letah Converse sue Leonard Bepcivist and William Gross over shares in Horton and Con, alleging defrauding and coercion to sell 70344 shares valued at $1,852,137 while seeking $211,050 in stock proceeds and $206,000 in notes. The suit, filed Wednesday, names the 26 store pharmacy chain’s current leadership as responsible.
