Hotel and restaurant workers set strike vote in rawnie

About 6 000 Long Beach and Orange County hotel and restaurant workers will vote on November 21 and 22 to authorize their negotiating committee to call a general strike if no new contract is reached. The five year contract with the Long Beach and Orange County Restaurant Association expires February 1.

Blaze at Texaco Wilmington Refinery Sparks Widespread Calls

Barber 29 Dies From Car Injury in Long Beach

Long Beach barber Lloyd Thomas Braxton, 29, died Sunday at Harbor General Hospital from injuries sustained in a three car crash at Tocust Avenue and 20th Street August 3. Braxton, of 1831 Lime Avenue, perished after his car overturned twice when struck by Augusto Borja Ambat, 33, of 893 El Beron Avenue San Pedro. Ambat was cited for running a boulevard stop and faulty brakes. Long Beach traffic toll this year reaches 40, up from 22 a year earlier.

Skindiver's Body Found Near Catalina Island

The body of Dale Mark, a 17 year old Sea Scout, was found Sunday by county lifeguards near Catalina Island. He drowned Saturday while skindiving from a converted 40 foot fire boat off Long Point with 13 other Sea Scouts aboard.
