Medal of Honor urged for slain hero in Korea ambush
Lone survivor Pvt. David E. Bibee, 17, described a brutal North Korean attack near the demarcation line during President Johnson's Korea visit. He recalled seven comrades killed and one man saving his watch as the unit fought off attackers in near darkness under a full moon. Bibee, in a wheelchair, said he and others then faced confusion and grenade fragments while seeking to assist a fallen buddy. The Army identified six killed in the ambush as the 8th Army released names and hometowns.
