Funds Freed to Speed B70 Construction
The Defense Department reverses a prior cut and allocates $155 million of $184.3 million in extra B70 funds. The plan speeds development of the 2,000 mph bomber for SAC, with one ground-test vehicle, one flying example, and two prototypes to be built. First flight for the weapons system type 70 targeted within a year after a December 1962 test.
