Mt Olivet Lutheran Church at 5818 Bonfair Ave launches a three week fund drive to build its first unit. Adrian J. Amstity directs the campaign for the Lutheran Laymen's Movement. The drive runs February 2 to November 10 with two year pledges and plans for late 1939 construction. Harold A. Carlson is the architect and I. William Silet chairs the campaign. Amstair is a former teacher and Justice Department administrator from Kidron Ohio.
Bethany Baptist Church Los Coyotes on Clark Avenue will hold the first service in its new auditorium tomorrow at 7 p.m. Pastor Robert L. Mubhant says the 15,000 square foot unit, the fourth in the Master Plan, includes a 355-seat editorium, Junior High assembly hall, 200 classrooms, lounges, kitchen, and offices. A 6 by 8 mural by Harvey Mohler decorates the baptistry wall. construction began last December and was mostly volunteer-driven. The facility, named the Fellowship Center, will host social activities until the final church auditorium is erected.
A new church to serve Los Alamitos and Rossmoor areas was announced by Revs Elmer B Tayr and Charles Ny Goeb ring interim pastors. The church named Holy Cross Lutheran will hold services at 10822 Los Alamitos Blvd north of Laurel School. First Sunday School session set for soon with organizers Paul Finneyson Harold Seabright and Ralph Joeckel arranging details.
A special area wide fellowship for all churches is planned Monday in connection with Evangelist Jerry Barnard's revival at Revival Center Church, 5200 Atlantic Ave. Rev. Robert Reid says services begin 2 40 pm with dinner, then an evangelistic rally at 7 40 pm. Barnard enters week four of the revival and will preach Monday night and Sunday. His Sunday morning sermon is Our Commission to Take Christ's Place and Sunday night at 7 30 he will deliver Bible Proof This Earth Will Be Taken from Outer Space.
