New York physicians at Albert Hinstein College of Medicine used acupuncture needles to anesthetize a patient’s legs for a skin graft. The procedure, the first reported use of acupuncture in a U.S. hospital, followed growing interest since Nixon’s 1972 China trip. The patient, a Manhattan bank employee, recovered after a minor operation. The graft moved skin from the right thigh to the left ankle. Supervising was Dr. Louis B. Burglary Suspect Wounded In Downtown Downey Standoff

Rites today for traffic victim in San Pedro
Funeral services were held for four year old Miguel Desantiago of 25L West Ninth Street San Pedro who died from traffic injuries suffered Thursday night in front of his home. Services in San Pedro and Long Beach honor the victim, with burial at All Souls Cemetery. He is survived by parents Jose and Catatina Desantiago a brother Angel 7 and sister Patricia 2. The death marks a traffic toll record high for the Warrior Division since January 1.
