Wallace denies funds for California write-in campaign
Wallace campaign says no national money will be spent on his write-in effort in California's June 6 Democratic primary. California strategist William K. Shearer says the move nearly ends Wallace's chance to win California's 271 delegates, but backers will tally the California write-ins with other states' popular votes to boost Wallace's overall lead for the Miami convention. He argues the tactic tests party sincerity on convention reform and preserves Wallace's national popular vote edge over McGovern and Humphrey.
