Sellout charge at Carson City council vote on Leahy
Carson City council faced accusations of selling out to industrial interests after a 31 vote affirmed John Leahy's legal qualification to serve as councilman. Councilman John Junk voiced the claim to the press in the chambers, while Mayor Gilbert Smith disputed it in a later press conference. Leahy's residency was challenged by Conrad Montoya who argued he had not lived a full year prior to his election.
