Environmental Monster Prompted SST Noise Debate

Sen William Proxmire warned the SST will be too noisy for U S use citing Dr Richard Garvin. Transport Department disputed saying SST noise mirrors subsonic jets and will not greatly exceed current airliners. Magruder added SST noise on approach or takeoff would be half that of a 707 or DC-9 reducing concerns.

Desert body in desert near here ruled a homicide

Sheldon Palmer, 51, a Phoenix bartender, was found dead in a parked car about 25 miles north of here near Interstate 18. An autopsy showed a gunshot wound to the head. No weapon was found. Police consider homicide, though officers said accidental target shooting could be a factor. Palmer’s body was found Thursday.
