Nuremberg defense ruled out at Viet war crimes trial
FT. JACKSON South Carolina UP military judge Marcus Brown ruled Capt Howard Levy’s Nuremberg style defense invalid finding no evidence Green Beret medics committed war crimes in Vietnam. He said Levy’s orders to train special forces medics were not illegal and his views were subjective beliefs. If convicted, penalties range from dishonorable discharge to 15 years in prison with possible lesser punishment taking into account his stated views.

Dirksen Opposes Red Trade Hike in Vietnam War Signal
Washington Republican leaders condemned expanding trade with the Soviet bloc while Russia and its allies wage war in Vietnam. Ford warned against extending MFN status to Russia and called for tighter East West controls, citing Soviet intervention threats in the Gulf of Aqaba. Dirksen added that only when Vietnam ends and the Reds show peace will bridges be considered.
