Anti integration law bid fails in California Assembly
In Sacramento an effort by Republican Assemblyman Floyd Wakefield to repeal a last year’s school integration guidelines law failed after heated debate. Wakefield withdrew the motion amid questions on parliamentary procedure and election year sensitivities, ending his antibusing bid. Democratic Speaker Bob Moretti led the opposition to taking up the measure.
