Congressman Charles S. Gubser argues to the House that minimum wage exemptions for farms with under 500 man-days should be eliminated. He says the change would reduce unfair competition with states with lower wages and protects both employees and small farms from an impractical exemption.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 11 to 6 to reduce proposed foreign aid and military assistance authorization from five years to one year. The administration sought a five year package totaling about 34 billion dollars for the next fiscal year. The action signals possible reversal as work on the Italian Constituent Assembly measure continues.
