McLaughlin faces possible removal over White House role
Boston sources report Jesuit regional superior Father Richard Cleary says John McLaughlin may be asked to leave the White House and could be dismissed from the Jesuit order. Cleary outlined options including a leave for prayer, or ordered departure, while noting no clear permission to work in Washington was recorded. McLaughlin defended the President, saying he speaks for the President, not the Church. He would need to undergo retreat and reflection under church guidance.
