Nixon and Ohira meet amid Watergate era tensions
President Nixon, while lawyers defend him on Watergate, meets Japanese Foreign Minister Masayoshi Ohira for about an hour in Washington. Gerald L. Warren says Nixon hopes to visit Japan before year end and would welcome Emperor Hirohito's return visit. Ohira says the topic did not come up. The two leaders discussed the long standing visit agreement from last year with Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka remaining valid.
