Ban on Sea Armament Drawn at Geneva Pact
The United States proposed a draft treaty to ban nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction from the sea bed as a response to a Soviet plan. It would ban up to three miles from shore, exclude inspection reciprocity, and include a five year review conference after entering into force. The U S version would cover roughly 2 million more square miles than the Soviet proposal and aims to curb near shore aggression.
