State High Court Upheld Borchers Slaying Verdict
The State Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision by Justice B. Rey Schauer, upheld Judge James G. Whyte’s earlier ruling in the Walter Borchers case. Borchers, 45, a former Pasadena insurance man, was convicted of second degree murder in the shooting death of Mrs. Mary McCully. The court allowed a possible new trial if the verdict violates law or evidence, noting a lesser included offense could be used.
