High quality showmanship at local music events
This weekend featured high quality performances led by cellist Gilbert Reese with pianist Ralph Linsley at First Congregational Church and by the Compton Civic Symphony at Compton College. James Rives Jones, a Dallas SMU conductor, led the ensemble in the Marriage of Figaro Overture and Dvořák's New World Symphony, receiving strong, nuanced readings from a capable orchestra including standout horn players Gale Robinson, Octave Boromo, Ed Jackson, and Nicolas Robser.
