Senior Opportunities and Services helps elderly find home helpers
Long Beach seniors turn to SOS for part time work and home help. Hildred Davenport, 74, found cleaning assistance through SOS after leerying ads. couples Joseph and Jo Kumpest, 66 and 65, use SOS to hire as a husband wife team. Cynthia Lobick, 62, blind in one eye, trains and works 20 hours weekly for shut in elderly. SOS director Helen Wakefield and counselor Muriel Perrin note two way system pairs helpers with elderly clients and links to CETA program. An open house 1:30 to 4 p.m. at First Street offices invites public to learn facilities and meet staff.
