El Dorado Park Plan Faces Community Review
A nine member committee of el dorado park users and civic groups urged by the Community Planning Council reviewed the IRS proposal for El Dorado Park. They endorsed camping and recreation facilities while opposing overnight camping for fees and retail developments. Local groups including the Long Beach Council of Parents and Teachers and Sierra Club urged a non commercial, natural park. Public hearing testimony reflected tension between tax funded maintenance and park accessibility.

Slogans and Pride Shape City Identities Across Suburban LA

Bellflower kept The Friendly City after a 1987 contest, while Downey, Paramount, and Signal Hill pursued progress and peak living mottos. The council recently allowed a change aligning with hilltop plans, though Willow and Cherry still echo former claims.
