Long Beach police report a bandit firing nine shots at the Village Inn Restaurant on Bellflower Boulevard to demand money, taking 1590 from the bartender James McDo Wall 92. The incident occurred at 12 20 pm Sunday through a rear door entry.
Thomas A. Ibarra, 25, of Wilmington, was wounded twice by off-duty Los Angeles officer Herbert W. Maples after Ibarra allegedly intoxicatedly attempted an assault at Cave Bowling Alley. Ibarra was treated at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance and later booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
