Grape boycott marchers push on toward Mexico border
About 35 supporters of the United Farm Workers organizing committees grape boycott reached a desert town on the fourth day of a 100 mile march to the Mexico border. Temperatures hit 120 degrees as marchers rode in a truck part of the way and stores along the route closed. more marchers joined for several hours.

Navy to Name New Skipper for Lost Pueblo
Washington Navy sources say the fleet will appoint two new skippers for the captured USS Pueblo though it remains held by North Korea. Cmdr Lloyd M. Bucher, the Pueblo’s former commander, has been reassigned to Monterey. The new skipper will hold the Pueblo title in addition to other duties.

Finch asks FDA chief to delete references in testimony
Dr. Herbert L. Ley said Secretary Robert H. Finch asked him to remove complimentary remarks about two drug firms from congressional testimony. The panel heard Finch overruled FDA on withdrawing the Panalbia combination antibiotic after talking to Upjohn. Ley said Finch then reversed within hours as investigators began inquiry. Upjohn and Squibb were named firms. The FDA plans to pull Upjohn’s Panalbia and weighs action against Squibb drugs. Ley cited Finch saying the deletion aimed to avoid rubbing the companies noses in the matter.
