Judge voids Playtex patent over Cross Your Heart design
Federal Judge William G. Conner ruled International Playtex’s patent invalid, finding the Cross Your Heart bra substantially anticipated by 1956 French and 1959 German designs. Demonstrations by models in Manhattan federal court showed prior patents disclosed most features, while measurements and trials illustrated positional shifts during wear. Splendor Forma and Forever Yours were cleared of infringement.
