Mystery blast shuts major Saudi oil pipeline

An explosion and fire at Abqaiq oilfield 35 miles from Dhahran forced a shutdown of a key Saudi pipeline. Officials said the blaze was contained within 12 hours and no gas facility or storage tank was endangered. One Saudi foreman died and 24 to 30 were injured, with saboteur theories under review. Long Beach gambling scheme linked to Ringo operation

In Los Angeles Federal Court, testimony tied Ringo to a broader gambling plan as ex city councilman Bert Bond, Marvin Kobey, and Edward Hagen face trial. Lakewood woman climbs in high heels to seek help in snow

Karen Lehrback, 22, hiked six miles through knee and waist deep snow in high heel sandals to reach aid for her boyfriend Eddy Bland, 24, left frostbitten in a snowbound car north of Table Mountain. Carter cites Europe trip as substantial success
