California Hunters Lose Pheasant and Deer Proposals

The State Fish and Game Commission rejected plans to ban hen pheasants in most of Northern California next fall and kept a single statewide deer season with last year’s bag limits. Southern California hunters will bag 10 pheasants, two per day, while new exceptions apply to a few southern regions. Deer seasons stay the same as last year, with coast hunters limited to September 25 and inland hunters to September 17 through December 10. A statewide deer season proposal was dismissed amid objections from lawmakers and officials.
