Ice cap on Mars discovered by Pasadena scientists
Scientists reporting closeup Mars photos announced a 200 mile wide permanent ice cap at the south pole with a 2 mile thick dry ice cap overlay. They say water ice persists and the region shows laminated young geology tied to climate cycles. Researchers anticipate north pole features may appear in June.
