Orange County Board grants 30 day delay for Dana Point Capistrano Beach incorporation
The Orange County Board of Supervisors extended the incorporation plan for Dana Point and Capistrano Beach by 30 days to June 23. Proponents struggle to gather signatures and support while the project, once stalled, seems to gain momentum after prior reversals by the Local Agency Formation Commission. The proposed city would be Orange County's 25th, housing about 7,500 people in 6.85 square miles of land and 18 square miles of adjacent ocean. In a separate note, William E. Thoresen II faced a May 17 delay ordered by Judge Lloyd H. Burke as federal prosecutors await information from Chicago on weapons charges.
