Statewide Tax Urgen for Colleges
California junior colleges would be funded by a statewide 20 cent per $100 tax collected by the state and shared with junior college districts. The plan would replace local tuition taxes where colleges exist and create a new levy where they do not, guaranteeing $600 per student annually. The State Board also backed desegregation as educational policy and asked for regulations to avoid segregation in future attendance boundaries.
