Don Pierce Bypasses Derby to Stay in Hollywood Park
Equestrian Don Pierce explains he skipped the Kentucky Derby as there was no mount with a chance to win. He instead rode Quack in the Century Handicap at Hollywood Park and plans to ride Soft Victory in the Los Angeles Handicap, aiming for a sixth straight win while weighing money versus prestige. Pierce notes top riders earn 10 percent of purse money and emphasizes business decisions and track fit over prize money.
