Beadin' at State College ends in peaceful exchange of ideas
A three hour meeting at California State College Long Beach settled into orderly debate under Roberts Rules. Arguments over censor ship of William Spater's sculpture gave way to a campus vote against restricting entry to under 17 and a warning tape outside the gallery. Cochaired by Andor Skotnes and John Kennedy, the gathering drew 2,000 to 3,000 for the afternoon in the Quadrangle. About half the crowd dispersed as discussions concluded, while zoology professor Ross Hardy supported electing officers on ability, a view rejected by the majority.
