White House lawyer James D. St. Clair told Judge Sirica Nixon will refuse to turn over 84 presidential conversations sought by Jaworski. Senate panel nixes bigger nuclear warheads and Narwhal sub
A Senate armed services subcommittee voted to cut nearly 400 million from the 1975 defense R and D budget, rejecting Pentagon requests for larger MIRV MARV warheads and the Narwhal nuclear submarine plan. It also trimmed four BL bomber prototypes to three, keeping a Navy MARV version funded. The action, along party lines, shifts debate ahead of full committee review.
