Nixon to detail aid plan for unemployed scientists
A George Washington University consultant predicts unemployment among scientists engineers and technicians will double by year end 1971. The report to NASA outlines a $42 million Nixon plan with up to 300 for job search travel and up to 2300 for training plus moving expenses. It warns that defense cutbacks and slow economic recovery could put over 70000 more workers out by 1971 and urges a broader civilian R D push rather than relying on general growth.
