Pulitzer Prize Winners Highlight My Lai Investigator
Seymour Hersh, a freelance reporter, won the 1970 Pulitzer for international reporting for exposing the My Lai massacre in Vietnam. He pursued tips from a Pentagon source with a $2,000 grant and distributed the story to 36 newspapers via The Dispatch News. The awards span journalism and the arts, with Newsday winning public service for Long Island land deals and other prizes for photography, drama, history, fiction, biography, poetry, general nonfiction, and music.
