Harmer Denies Land Conflict of Interest Charge at Sacramento News Conference
State Sen. John Harmer of Glendale rejected charges by opponent John Veneman that his 1971 no vote on a subdivision bill showed a conflict of interest. Harmer, a Shastina Properties director, said counsel advised him before voting. Veneman noted Harmer failed to disclose post as director through June 1973 in state records. Both men remained cordial as Harmer offered to share half the conference costs.
