Alcohol fuels about twenty thousand auto deaths this year
Dr Herman A Heise of Milwaukee told a symposium of 350 doctors and lawyers that about 20,000 Americans will die in alcohol flavored accidents before year end. He estimated alcohol factors in about half of the 1956 highway deaths and predicted around 40,000 new deaths this year. Heise warned not all accidents would be caused by alcohol but more alcohol would raise accident severity.
