Bombers strike mangrove swamps near Saigon in heavy assault

Thirty B52s and Stratofortresses dropped massive explosives on mangrove swamps 18 miles southeast of Saigon while Marines sweep river approaches to the capital. An air force spokesman said a jungle mine factory hidden among 40 foot high mangroves was obliterated as waves of bombers hit Viet Cong areas near the Cambodian border. political unrest rises with Buddhist demonstrations in Hue and protests against Ky regime in Saigon.

L B Ship Wins Torrid Battle Against N Viet Shore Forces

A fierce night action off the North Vietnamese shore saw L B Ship and supporting aircraft engage hostile shore batteries and boats. Rescue operations recovered six of eight men within two hours. two were killed when a helicopter was hit. The Berkeley and Yorktown units sustained damage while delivering air and naval fire. Burma Asks Missioners to Leave
