Douglas Founded Firm on Shoestring
The story traces Donald W. Douglas early life in aviation, from chief test engineer roles in World War I to forming his own company. With $600, he started in a Los Angeles barber shop, built the Cloudster, secured a Navy contract, and expanded to three planes. He faced funding hurdles, navigated investor interest, and grew toward the Douglas Commercial era.
