California border error may place two Nevada casinos in Califor

The California Lands Commission says a 127 year old surveying mistake on the California Nevada border north of Lake Tahoe could move two casinos Crystal Bay Club and Cal Neva onto California soil by as much as 1700 feet. Officials note the Athmeridian, the constitutional border, lies east of the current line, but courts typically honor long standing borders.

U S and Vietnam to resume Paris talks on normalization

President Carter announced that the United States and Vietnam will resume talks in Paris on normalizing relations. Carter seeks 850 million drought aid package

President Carter asked Congress to approve nearly 850 million in loans and grants for Western drought relief. The plan includes 150 million in grants, 10 million in 5 percent loans for communities, 4 million in low interest loans to small businesses, and up to 190 million in 3 percent loans to farmers and ranchers. Interior and Agriculture will expand land for grazing and boost forest fire firefighting readiness. Total drought assistance would reach about 2 billion with previously approved programs and a 200 million disaster relief supplement.

Fear grips Oakland County as seven children slain

Long Beach couple badly burned in home gasoline explosion

In Long Beach early today a wall heater pilot light ignited gasoline fumes, critically burning Everett Williams 4 and Doris 8 amid a bathroom floor clean with gasoline. Neighbors found the unconscious couple. their infant rescued unharmed and cared for by neighbors. Both victims were hospitalized at Orange County Medical Center burn ward.
